has recently welcomed the University of British
Columbia – Okanagan campus to the community.
In September 2005, UBC Okanagan opened its doors
as a unique small university campus. Its close knit
learning community offers students and professors
interaction on a daily basis. UBC Okanagan is growing
each year. They currently have 3,987 students with
plans to increase enrolment to 7,500 by 2009. Each
year new programs are added to the 7 faculties.
If you would like to live on campus there are 781
single student housing units located on 260 acres
of campus space. Even the classrooms and administrative
buildings have plans to grow to 1.5 million sq.
ft. by 2010.
Okanagan College is a long standing post secondary
institution that offers many programs. Trades,
Business, Technology, University Studies, Adult
Education and Vocational Health are all programs
offered by the college. There are numerous 1st
and 2nd year university transfer courses and a
bachelor degree available in business or computer
information systems. Finally a college where the
students can not complain about the food! The
on campus restaurant (Infusions) and cafeteria
are staffed by the Culinary Arts students.
Whether you choose UBC Okanagan or Okanagan College
there are many opportunities to invest in the
local real estate market while you are here. With
all the adventure, relaxation and recreation that
the Okanagan Valley has to offer, post secondary
students have an ideal place to live, learn and
play. Who knows, you may never want to leave! |
