| Okanagan Falls
is a city that is located on Lake Skaha and the Okanagan
River which is about a 1 hour drive south of Kelowna.
With a population of approximately 6,005 it’s
a charming town. Located in the only temperate desert
area in Canada, Okanagan Falls boasts the warmest lake
waters at 24 degrees Celsius. This arid area has an
average summer temperature of 29C and average winter
temperature of 0C – which makes for a wonderful
climate year round.
Fantastic beaches, beautiful mountains and wonderful
desert valley view, Okanagan Falls offers many activities
for all ages. The Skaha Bluffs offer rock climbing for
the true adventurer or alternatively, relax on one of
the many beaches. Hiking trails, camping, fishing, canoeing,
bird-watching and of course there are many wineries
in the area to visit.
Vaseux Lake Provincial Park is home to the Vaseux Wildlife
Centre where visitors can learn all about the natural
habitat and see some wonderful sites. Vaseux Lake is
the place to go for the avid fisherman. With largemouth
and small mouth bass, kokanee, or rainbow trout, you
are bound to come away with a rewarding catch.
Apex Mountain Resort is only 32 km southwest of Okanagan
Falls and is one of the three prime ski and snowboard
destinations in the Valley.
Golfing is another popular sport and Okanagan Falls
has a lot to offer to golfers of all skill levels. Twin
Lakes Golf Resort is an 18-hole surrounded by towering
cliffs. Skaha Meadows Golf Course and St. Andrews by
the Lake Golf Course are both 9-hole courses, great
to golf when you have a few hours on a sunny afternoon.
In 2000 the Trestle was reconstructed to connect OK
Falls to the Kettle Valley Railway trail. Visitors and
residence can now bike, hike and walk along beautiful
Skaha Lake through Kaleden on the way to Penticton.
